Our Town Hall event is coming up this weekend and even though Congressman Cook refuses to attend, we’re planning to move right along without him. Our panel of expert locals will be fielding questions related to the Trump administrations executive orders, and Paul Cooks rubber stamp approval of the Trump agenda.
Guest speakers and panelists will include experts in the fields of healthcare, immigration, environmental protection and public education. Panelists will take questions from the audience and discuss ways that these policies and proposed budget cuts affect our district and what we can do about it.
Of course we’d prefer to ask our elected representative all of these questions in person. We’d prefer he sponsored a public, in person, advertised town hall, so that he might offer explanations of his votes which seem to only serve the special interest groups and campaign donors who he is more than happy to meet with.
Instead we were offered a sham of “tele-town hall” with pre screened softball questions and rambling non answers. Voters of California’s 8th congressional district deserve better. It’s time we stop idly allowing incumbents to coast through each term without answering to their constituents for their votes. Join us on April 22nd and send a message to Cook that his free ride is over and its time to answer to his employers.
